Under the skin

The inspiration came from a friend who was being treated for pityriasis rosea, an immune-related skin condition in which patients are covered in rose-coloured lumpy patches. At the end of the treatment, the rose-coloured patches formed brown patches, which for a variety of reasons put her under a lot of psychological stress. The project focuses on the memories and traces of natural forms, social and skin disorders, reflecting on the cracks and deeper brokenness that one cannot just see, and realising self-care and reconciliation.
